32 weeks and lessons learned

So when you're pregnant, they pretty much want you to drink your weight in water every day. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but it is a lot. I thought I had drank a good amount of water today, although I knew it wasn't as much as I usually drink and it is getting warmer here these days. Late this afternoon, I started getting sharp pains across my lower abdomen whenever I stood up, my lower back was hurting, and then I had 4 contractions within about 20 minutes and I was just feeling crappy in general. I knew we had talked about this stuff in our childbirth class, so I looked up pre-term labor in our book. Sure enough, these were some of the signs of it. It said to drink 4 glasses (or 32oz) of water and lay down on your left side for an hour, so I did just that and now I'm pretty much feeling back to whatever normal is these days. :-) I guess that water thing is a pretty good idea after all.

Other than that, there hasn't been anything too exciting to report since my 28 week post, so I guess I've been slacking on the blog writing. My blood pressure has crept up a tiny bit, but its still in the low normal range, so nothing to be concerned about. I'm noticing my ankles swelling a little more than they had been, but again, its not anything terrible. I measured right on at my last appt and the baby's heartbeat stayed right about where it normally is.

We finished our childbirth classes last week. The second to last night, we had a tour of the hospital, so it was nice to see where all the action will be happening. Unfortunately, all 16 of the actual labor and delivery rooms were in use, so we didn't get to see an actual room, but she showed us some pictures. All in all, the facilities are very new and it should be a nice place to have the baby. There is wireless internet, so we should be able to post about the birth while we're still at the hospital. I may take a few hours to meet the baby and get a little rest, though!

Since I don't have any other new information, I'll go ahead and post my 32 week picture.
